So we have classed in Masters Commission!! Mostly taught by our Pastors from the Church, Pastor Lawrence, Pastor Dan Mooney, Pastor Dan and Michelle, Pastor Josh, Pastor Jason, Pastor Nathan, and Pastor Scott. But it is such a Blessing to see that the Pastors from around our community believe in us that they come and teach us classed too.
Serving, a wonferful word you will learn in Masters Commission! It really isn't that bad, it
can honestly be fun! We've racked Leaves in St. Louis. Served at Delquest in Oklahoma,
which is a student leadership program. We've helped Sister Russell clean your house,
We've cleaned up a local park and so much more. It sounds like a lot of work but when
you see peoples faces when they relieze someone randomly came and racked their yard,
or see kids playing in a clean park, you start to see the difference you've made. Serving
makes a difference. Serving makes you a leader and a leader never stops serving.
Today the team, played kickball for team time. It was a blast. It was also quite hot! Ill be perfectly honest in sharing that some members of this team, (i.e. Ashley) can sweat...A LOT. But it was all worth it. This is almost the last chance at team time that we have. This team has grown so close it will be rather sad to see some members leave. Tiphone will be returning to New Mexico...and not returning, sniff sniff. Belinda will be going to Kansas for the summer. Rachael will be living in Georgia for the summer as well. It will be a whole new thing for us...after a year of being like a family it will be hard to see us (even temporarily) go our separate ways. This is a whole new chapter for some, and this summer is going to be such a blessing!
This very morning the team is heading to Kansas, ONCE AGAIN!, yeah! Only this time we are going to Emporia and KS City. New churches and new faces. It is all so very exciting. However Kansas is not the only stop on this road trip. By this weekend we will be in Minnesota! The entire team is finishing up packing and preparing to leave soon. We are all really looking forward to this final trip together as the DMC team of 2008. God will continue to do major things and we will continue to serve and seek Him. Life is good.
Howdy there! It's Vacation Bible School time at Destiny and we here at DMC are lucky enough to get to help out. The theme is Avalanche Ranch. We're all having fun pretending to be cowboys and cowgirls. Everyone on the team is involved somehow, and we've had a blast so far. Ok, so it's only been one day, but still! This is the one time a year where we get to really hang out with the kids(besides Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights). It's also the one time of year that we get to let loose and dance around to ridiculously fun kids songs. I think some of us like VBS more than the kids do! Just kidding...The kids have been really open and responsive to what God is doing in their young lives. Yesterday they learned that God is real. He is truly an amazing God, and we're so lucky to serve such a great God. He's given us so many opportunities to serve the people of Destiny Christian Center this year, and we've loved every minute of it...yes, even the late night chair moving moments. :-)
Besides VBS, we're getting ready to go to Minnesota next week where we'll be connecting with Jacob Wallace. He's a DMC(well, it was Mid West Master's Commission when he was here) graduate, and we're so stoked to get the chance to connect with him.
Speaking of alumni, our very own Lauren Allen(from last year) is getting married this Saturday! A few MCers are actually in the wedding. The rest of us will be there to let Lauren and Clint know that we're praying for them as they take a step of faith and enter into a new season of their lives. You guys are going to more than make it!
That pretty much wraps it up for now. We hope you guys are doing great and that God is taking you to new and exciting places! Much Love!
Twitter, what's in the name? It is the Network that keeps us updated on where we are....Yeah it's getting around and pretty soon, we will all have one!!!! Go to www.twitter.com anywho.....The MC team is heading to Kansas this weekend! We are doing a Service on Sunday at Ashley's church and also going to a Concert Festivial!!!
The year is coming to an end and we have mixed emotions....We are happy to graduate but sad to see it go!!! But next year is going to be so exciting!!!! Three new students have been accepted....Congrats Michelle Myers, Nathan Freeman and Chelsea Cain!!!! We are excited to see you here!!!!
*miserably inadequate (one of the definitions to the word 'pathetic')
The team has dedicated this week to spiritual emphasis. This includes more early prayer, fasting different things for each person, community service, and classes with alumni. Last night after our service at Destiny Christian Center (our home church), we had a class with Andrea Nichols. Her class was labeled, 'the pathetic', and she brought to our attention our (the human race) continual habit of asking God to do things and to give us our wants, but then never being satisfied with it. The Isrealites in the desert...ect. All we must do is give ourselves to God and let Him make adequate and prosperous in His plans. That is awesome. God has done so much already, but He will do even more through the rest of this week (AND OUR LIVES!)
The team has returned from a week long trip to Indiana just three days ago. The team had a good time, and it was a pivotal time for many members of the team. Unfortunately, a few members of the team were missing for part of the trip, and Will actually missed the whole thing. The night before we left for Indiana, will left for Kansas after receiving news of a motorcycle wreck his friend Jay was in. The team and multiple churches have been praying for him and declaring that he is healed. Will informs us that as of Monday, Jay is doing good, and is recovering. A few girls had to cut the trip short so they could do their duty as part of the of Lauren's wedding party. (Lauren was a master's student last year).
On the trip we visited multiple towns in Indiana, including Indianapolis, Terra Houte, Columbus and got the opportunity to minister and be ministered to by several churches. It was amazing. We met some cool folks, and hopefully we will get to see them again next year.
The last part of the trip was working a short event for the NHRA (national hot rod association). It was much like the Barret Jackson auction we worked earlier this year. That helped pay for fuel (YIKES).
Now we are home and preparing for next week which is spiritual emphasis week. It will be good! God is too : )
In the past few months we have been very fortunate. We have gotten the opportunity to serve on mission trips to Honduras, Mexico, and the most recent trip: Scotland. A few of us flew out on April 7th, over the Atlantic to the UK, and landed near the capitol of Scotland. We stayed on the Riddle farm, with the Blair family. The Blair's have been in Scotland for around five years, planting churches, and doing what God has called them to do. The Riddle farm is located near a town called Galashiels. This is where we spent most of our time, connecting with people. We also spent time with the families in the church. We had dinner with them, watched futbol, shared different cultures, and enjoyed many prayer/worship times as well. We were encouraged when we heard the stories of the families, and what they were doing to minister to the people around them. We did get the chance to view the castles, and the culture, when we took a one day trip to Edinburgh, which is the capitol of Scotland. Where there men with kilts? The answer is yes! We also took a trip to Melrose on one of the last days there, and we picked up trash along the road. It was fun, and educational. We returned on the 17th of April, and most of the team wished that they could of stayed. The scenery was amazing, even though it was cold there. We all had a great time, and its an experience that we will never forget.
Check out our pics in our mission trip albums!!
